There is no worse feeling than flying on a long-haul flight, four movies and a hangover later. Landing with dry skin and chapped lips, feeling like you travelled on the plane's wing.
As much as flying to a new destination is the dream, the flight comes with puffy and dry skin side effects, which were absolutely not part of the guest list.
Don't worry. We have just the products for leaving the dull skin on the flight and arriving with the dewy skin we all wish for. Starting the holiday glow on the runway.
ON-FLIGHT BEAUTY BAG
Crammed everything possible into your cosmetic bag. That's it bulging over? Sounds all too familiar. Here we are about to tell you to add something else, but it really is a must. By taking a cosmetic bag for the flight, you can add more to your main luggage. Just saying! We're making this more of a priority than your seven extra pairs of shoes, although if you can fit them in, too, you're winning.
Don't add any products over 100ml (foundation fits, tried & tested)
HAND SANITISER
Because we only touch our faces after cleaning our hands first. Wipe down your seat & tray too. (calling all clean queens)
MAKEUP REMOVER
If you have a travel-sized cleanser, pack that. If not, treat yourself to a new cleanser at the airport; it is holiday time, after all. OR, for a one-time-only recommendation, pack makeup wipes. Only for ease, ok, we are not going against everything we preach. Going makeup free whilst on a flight is like a breath of fresh air. It will allow your skin to breathe & avoid any clogged pores. Even if you travel to the airport without makeup, cleanse/wipe your face to remove any bacteria. Setting yourself up to apply your skincare.
FACE MASK
If you're brave enough to sit on a plane with a sheet mask, you know, the ones where you look like you've just stepped out of a horror scene. That one. Perfect to put on during a night flight when the lights are off, and everyone is snoozing. Leave everyone curious about how you have just woken up with such a glow.
If you prefer a cream, we recommend using a creamy hydrating travel mask and putting on a slightly thicker layer than usual to allow it to sink into the skin. At least this way, nothing limits you from sipping on your champers!
Both are just as fab as one another, leaving you looking like a glowy queen.
LIP BALM
The on-flight air con really does you dirty. Apply lip balm throughout the flight to keep them looking nice and plump.
WATER
Water/Champagne same thing.
Water is always your best friend but especially whilst flying. A little tip is to buy a large bottle of water in the duty-free shop, so you're ready to get hydrated.
Disclaimer you may need a few trips to the loo. We did warn you...
EYE MASK & SLEEP SPRAY
We know the excitement is real when boarding a plane, but getting those zzz's in is crucial, especially to avoid those dreaded eye bags. Your skin will thank you for it later.
Sleeping isn't always the easiest unless you have raided the drinks bar, so we recommend taking a silk eye mask to block out any light. Silk always because you didn't do all of that work for it to soak in the products.
Sleep spray is a must, especially if you are a nervous flyer. Using something lavender-based will have a calming effect and relax you. Everyone around you struggling to sleep will be envious.
A few sprays of sleep spray and an eye mask = a good flight sleep.
MOSITURISER + SPF
Once you are almost there and looking dewy AF. It's time to prepare yourself for the runway (model behaviour).
Apply your moisturiser, top with SPF, and you're ready to get holidaying! You're just showing off if you have an SPF combined with your moisturiser. Regardless of the destination you are landing at, whether it be rain or shine, prepping your skin with SPF means you're ready for anything, UV rays and all.
MAKEUP
If you like to arrive with a little bit of makeup on, we recommend packing some of your favourite makeup products to finish the look. Your skin is prepared to be shown off if you prefer to be without it.
When boarding a flight, you will always find Mascara, concealer, blush, and lipstick in the NELLE beauty bag.
Have the best holiday. We are totally not jealous...
